Revised arrangements for the new term in January 2021
Revised arrangements for the new term in January 2021
Resources will remain open to support the following groups of students from Monday 11 January 2021:
All Adult learners, across all curriculum areas will be able to access the remote learning platforms and any new practical elements for the development of a new skill will be prioritised and scheduled into their time table, to ensure no one is disadvantaged. License to Practice courses will still run following DfE and PHE guidelines; these include SIA Security & FLT, on reduced capacity.
If practical assessments or observations are required, tutors will arrange this in advance with the student to ensure they achieve their qualification.
Our Centres will be contacting students and parents from Wednesday 06 January to discuss arrangements and will be sending out timetables for attendance. Adaptations will be made to time tables depending on the student’s needs, bubble groups that have been set up in centre and group size. Staff will be aiming to complete any practical and workshop learning as soon and as safely as they possibly can, to avoid any disadvantages if we were put into a full lockdown.
If we have to be put into a full lockdown we will be following the DFE guidance to provide a provision for any vulnerable learners.
Students in receipt of bursaries from Barnardos will be supported at £6 per day for lunch and when in centre travel will be paid on production of a valid ticket or pass (these will be copied and sent to Barnardos).
All other Students will be paid their usual daily Expenses when they attend in centre.
In the meantime if you have any queries, please email:

If students are currently undergoing a work placement or attend work as an apprentice, they should continue to attend there centres for their 20% of the job training, unless they are told otherwise by their employer. Their Skills Trainers and Assessors will continue to support them through the working week and all reviews with the employer and Apprentice will be done remotely.
All new placements are put on hold until further notice or until agreed with the employer that they are COVID safe.
We are still taking enquiries for new starts; these will be conducted over the telephone. Enrolment events scheduled to take place in January will take place over the phone and an assessment will be made on whether your training will start as distance online or to attend your designated centre, those that are licenced linked or require specialist equipment will be informed on when they can attend centre in a COVID SAFE environment following PHE advice.
Instructions for online/remote learning will be sent out by Centre teams by end of day Thursday 07 January. Those that do not have access to an environment at home conclusive for e-learning; we are making arrangements for access to our computer suites or hardcopies of workbooks will be sent out to be completed. We will be using:
All platforms can be used for remote learning by the staff and learners. Training can be given to learners on the use of the platforms via Face time calling with the option of the tutor linking up using team viewer.
The information here will be emailed out to all students via their email and posted to parents/carers tomorrow. If you have any questions, or worries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
